Perry County Council of the Arts:

Building Community Through the Arts – Reimagining and Celebrating Creativity in a Rural Setting

Perry County Council of the Arts, an Arts in Education Partner of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, helps place professional artists in classrooms in seven counties in order to inspire hundreds of young people in ways that take them far beyond their normal school curriculum.

Our Quilt Barn Murals, created in classrooms through our residencies, have become part of our larger Trail in Central Pennsylvania, extending from Perry County into Juniata County this summer. These nine new murals bring student pride to the trail, resulting in tourists visiting and partaking of local stores and restaurants in Perry and Juniata Counties.

Our PCCA Gallery helps the local economy by selling the artwork of more than 150 artists from the region. Landis House, our “Creative Commons,” offers a robust schedule of classes, many low-cost or free exhibitions and concerts, and is utilized for community-building events more than half the days of the year. Sunday Arts Hour attracts world-class musicians to our rural county for free concerts. The “Drop-In Art” program attracts Juniata residents.

Donations will be accepted to help further the goals of the Perry County Council of the Arts. Their booth will be located on Level 2, outside the doors to the Commonwealth Ballroom.
