My Country Fair quilt is a beautiful scrap project made with a modified Carpenter’s Wheel block. It is made from Flying Geese and Diamond Square units, both of which can be made easily and accurately with two fantastic Studio 180 Design tools. The Wing Clipper I and the Square Squared build in success for every level of quilter. Each student will learn the construction processes of both tools while making blocks during class time. Many hints and tips for machine piecing will be covered in this class that is easy enough for beginners but interesting enough for veterans. Spend the day with Deb and look at piecing in a new way!

This classic Baltimore block is done in wool on a field of cotton patchwork for a fresh look. The appliqué is dimensional and accomplished using matching wool threads that blend with the fabrics and disappear for superb clarity. Use it as a center block for a table topper or make nine blocks for an entire quilt. Learn about different wool threads and fabrics, needle slanting techniques for adding dimension, and techniques for perfect appliqué placement. The stems are appliquéd using the herringbone stitch, which adds texture and interest. A variety of embroidery stitches will be presented, including the colonial knot.
