Learn to free-motion quilt beautiful feather designs on your home sewing machine. Sue has used the feather design successfully on many of her quilts. The feather is the ideal design for free-motion quilting and it is easier than you think! First, you will practice the techniques used to achieve beautiful, consistent, and smooth stitches. Next, you will work on practice pieces to learn all about feathers, starting with the basic feather and then moving on to motif and wholecloth feathers. Finish with fillers that add dimension to the feather. Fall in love with Feathers. Sue will have many quilts to show for inspiration!

Students will work on practice pieces to learn the details of successful free-motion quilting. Relax and enjoy while playing with fun designs such as traditional stipple quilting, curvy lines, and free-form feathers. Sue will show many quilts for inspiration.

Learn stitched raw-edge machine appliqué in this informative class. Sue has used this great technique on her award-winning appliqué quilts. A small amount of fusible is used to seal the edge, yet leaves the block soft. The machine blanket stitching makes this project secure for washing. Students will work on the Rose of Sharon block to learn the details of the technique. Explore inside and outside points, curves, circles, and a great bias stem option. This block is from Sue’s quilt FLORAL BOUQUET, and all details that Sue used to create this quilt will be covered. As a bonus, Sue’s cute little bird pattern will be included! You will feel confident to work on any appliqué pattern after taking this class!

After learning the skills to feel confident with these techniques, Sue will show a short PowerPoint to demonstrate how to machine quilt on your home sewing machine. With Sue’s patient guidance, learn all the basic skills needed to master machine quilting on your home sewing machine.

Pieced quilts, appliquéd quilts, quilt samplers, and more will be covered. Whether you quilt your own quilt tops or you like to have someone else do it for you, Sue’s information will help make sure you end up with a quilt you are happy with! Supplies are not required for a lecture, although you may want to bring a pen and paper to take notes.
