This is an introductory class to Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) software. In a fun and informative way, with a few games (and, of course, chocolate thrown in), Shelley will highlight some of the amazing things that EQ8 can do. Students will start with already-made quilts to print and sew. Then you will move on to using blocks available in EQ8 to create quilts. Shelley will also cover how to create appliqués and even use photos to enhance your quilt. You will leave class with a firm grasp on how to maneuver through the EQ8 software to create your one-of-a-kind quilt. A mini trunk show follows, featuring projects created in the wonderful world of Electric Quilt 8.

During Karen’s visits to Mexico, she was influenced by the designs and colors of the flora and handmade pottery. Karen designed a large quilt called Fiesta Mexico, and she will help you explore one of the blocks from that quilt. While sewing on this 10” block, you will learn to appliqué smooth curves and sharp points. Karen will also show you how to create and appliqué perfect strips and perfect circles. This class is sure to make your hand appliqué fun, easy, and enjoyable. (The border is not part of this half-day workshop, but the pattern and directions will be included in the class kit.)

Fused appliqué is one of Frieda’s go-to methods for making her award-winning quilts. In this workshop, students will make a small landscape design using fused fabric, scissors, and a rotary cutter with a decorative blade. To truly make your own art quilts, begin by designing your own fabric. In this class, you will make swatches of colorful fused fabrics, and use them to create collage landscapes full of texture and pattern.
