The Hawaiian style quilt has finally become a machine appliqué project! In this class we will learn how to trace, cut, and fuse a Hawaiian design. This kind of design is unique because it is folded and cut like cutting a paper snowflake. Additionally, we will cover how to do it so carefully, you get two blocks from one piece of cloth! In this class we use special hand dyed fabric called Hula Hoops. The radiant design of the cloth blends right in with the Hawaiian style, making the blocks even more exciting!

How many times have you finished a quilt top (or perhaps you quilt for others) and when it comes time for the quilting find yourself asking, “How should I quilt this?” Jodi will share with you her suggestions for choosing your quilting designs, along with discussion/suggestions from other students in class. Along the way she will also talk about choosing a suitable batting, thread types, colors, and marking. This will be an open discussion with student involvement. Students should bring at least one quilt top that they would like quilting suggestions for. Preview designs on top of the quilts using a large plastic overlay and dry-erase markers. This class will be beneficial for any machine quilter whether you quilt on a longarm, midarm, or domestic sewing machine.

NQM will provide a van going back and forth from the AQS Shuttle Stop at the Convention Center to the Museum during show hours.
