Join us for our ever-popular All-Star Review, and learn techniques from this year’s instructors. Each instructor will give their 10-minute demonstration to all participants, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. After 7:30 p.m., the instructors will have their books and patterns for sale and give autographs. A booklet with printed handouts is provided to each participant. This always sells out fast, so hurry and get your tickets. The Wednesday presentations are different from Saturday’s event.

This is a free-motion class that takes you step by step from stem to feathered finish with extra tips and tricks and a multitude of inside feather filler designs. Students will work with felted wool and literally build their bouquets with techniques developed by the designer. Completing the stitching and construction using various finishing techniques will be thoroughly discussed providing a comfort level so that the project will ultimately be completed. Cutting techniques for small pieces in wool will be presented, and students will learn appliqué techniques including the tack stitch and make their own decisions on colors and flowers, literally making their own bouquet designs within a framework. Deborah will show how to make the cord to attach the fob to the scissors and using felted wool pieces to cover an Altoid tin.

Students will work on practice pieces to learn the details of successful free-motion quilting. The National Quilt Museum will feature three exciting exhibits during AQS QuiltWeek® – Spring Paducah, Kentucky 2017. The following exhibits will be featured:

  • New Quilts from an Old Favorite & Antique Flying Geese: Finalists and winners from the annual New Quilts from an Old Favorite competition are showcased along with traditional examples featuring the theme of the Flying Geese piecework.
  • 13th Quilt Japan: This international exhibit features works by artists in over a dozen different Asian countries.
  • The National Quilt Museum Collection: View a selection of quilts from the Museum’s Collection, including the Oh Wow! Miniature Collection.

BIG NEWS: 24-HOUR MUSEUM! The Museum is staying open ALL NIGHT on Wednesday April 26. Technically, the Museum will be open from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday through Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

NQM will provide a van going back and forth from the AQS Shuttle Stop at the Convention Center to the Museum during show hours.
