#23504, Reverse Appliqué

Day: Saturday, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Heritage Ballroom B
Teacher: Grace Errea
Level: All levels

Member: $48 Retail: $60

(Plus Kit Fee)

This is a brand new class and recently developed technique by Grace. The technique is an offshoot of Grace’s extremely popular and successful Heat-Set technique. The Reverse Appliqué uses the same product and a similar application of the product as the Heat-Set. The difference is that instead of applying fabric shapes on top of the background fabric, in Reverse Appliqué you will cut into the background to discover the shapes below! This is used heavily in MOLA designs but they are hand stitched. The technique as developed by Grace, is done by machine, is extemely easy and foolproof. It lends itself to stained glass/mosaic textile effects and graphic type design interpreted in fabric. This is your opportunity to learn from the inventor, developer, and expert of both the Heat-Set and the new Reverse Appliqué.

How did that happen? Attend his amusing lecture for all the answers!

#28512, Using My Machine’s Decorative Stitches

Day: Saturday, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Independence AB
Teacher: Vicki McCarty
Level: Intermediate, Advanced

Member: $48 Retail: $60

We spend big bucks to purchase these awesome machines…..and all we ever use is the 1/4″ seam! In this class you will learn how to use your decorative stitches to prequilt your background. Then you will draw your applique pieces onto your fusible web, and iron them onto your fabric. We will also use bias bars to create your stems and then I will show you how to fuse them onto an applique pressing sheet and then peel them off to press onto your decorative stitched background. Then I will show you how to alter your blanket stitch to make it look like it has been hand stitched!
