Come relax and play for a few hours! Many quilters are intimidated by creative threadwork, but you can learn create beautiful thread art in a relaxed and fun environment. Threadwork enhances your quilt in a way that no other technique can. It can stand alone or be the final touch to quilts, clothing, home decorating, and greeting cards. In this class you will learn, practice, and enhance your free-motion quilting skills. First, students will warm up by free-motion quilting a number of very easy patterns that can be used for background quilting. You will also learn how to sign your name on your quilt by using the sewing machine as a writing tool. You will then make one or more simple drawings on a muslin sandwich, then proceed to draw the simple picture with your sewing machine using thread. This technique requires minimum effort and practice; you can execute it even if you do not feel comfortable with free-motion quilting. In fact, you will be comfortable with thread drawing by the end of the session. You will review and practice free-motion and discuss threads used in the process.
