Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching or functional embroidery from Japan. In this introductory workshop to hand Sashiko, students will learn about the history of Sashiko and the basic supplies needed to stitch this unique style. Jen will also show you how to work the stitch and transfer designs, as well as discuss its application for big-stitch hand quilting. Students will start to stitch a preprinted panel that can be finished at home. Stitchers beware…Sashiko is addictive!
