Want to add a unique feature to your quilted wallhanging? Do you have a unique trinket that you’d like to highlight and incorporate into your quilt design? Have an “oops” in your piecing that you want to disguise? If you answered yes, to any of these questions, then this class is for you! In this class, you’ll learn how to create a finished-edge cutout in your quilt and either add an object or leave it plain for special effect. This class is a combination of lecture and hands-on experience. Included will be discussion of fabrics to use, how to make a template for cutout, measurement and placement of your cutout, stitches to use, and application of the cutout technique. You’ll have the opportunity to create a small wallhanging with a circular cutout to highlight a kanzashi flower (or bring your own special trinket).

You’ve almost finished your quilting project; all it needs is to have the binding applied, and there it sits, because applying binding can be intimidating. This class will alleviate these fears and take you through the initial steps of calculating how wide to make your quilt binding, all the way through the final step of sewing it in place on your quilt! You’ll learn cutting, binding prep, mitering corners, and joining beginning and ending binding. This is a technique class, so you’ll make samples to use for future reference. In no time, you’ll be a master at binding, and all those UFOs will be things of the past!
