Join Grace Errea and make your quilts “take flight” by using her own techniques. Students will learn a number of new skills and be introduced to tools that will enable them to create amazing textile work. Students will focus on creating bird images and giving them a 3-dimensional, realistic look to make your quil stand out.. Using a provided generic bird pattern, you will be able to choose your colors, change the head-crest, tail, or beak, and create your favorite bird. On day one, class will focus on the creation of a quilt top using the “Heat-Set” technique and free-edge machine appliqué for the feathers. Grace will introduce you to the 8-value scale, and teach her secrets on how to use value to choose fabrics that create amazing results. On day two, students will complete the quilt top sandwich and begin quilting. Grace will also demonstrate you how to produce an incredible look with 3D feathers. You will leave class with bragging rights and a number of amazing new techniques. Lunch will be provided.
