Patt Blair | Des Moines 2017 Instructor
Patt Blair is an oil painter and watercolorist turned art quilter and fabric painter. The cycle is complete. “I’m a happy girl!”’ she says, because in art quilting, almost anything goes.
Patt has been teaching since 2004 when she won the Sulky Challenge Grand Prize for her ink and thread painted piece, First Call. In November 2012, IQA Houston awarded Patt’s piece My Gentle Giant – Ben with the Pfaff Master Award for Machine Artistry. Patt’s art quilts are more like contemporary tapestries than quilts, largely affected by her extensive use of thread which she refers to as linear paint. She has studied with numerous national/international level artists including the renowned watercolorist Robert E. Wood. She has gone on to teach, be published, compete, and win nationally and internationally. Patt’s teaching goal is for you to feel proud when class is done! See her quilts at pattsart.com.
