Special Quilt Exhibit – AQS QuiltWeek®


The American Quilter’s Society showcases a variety of quilt styles at AQS QuiltWeek Shows and we are delighted to present a new exhibit in 2020. The theme for the 2020 fall AQS QuiltWeek events will be Baltimore Album Quilts – A New Generation.

The exhibit will premiere at AQS QuiltWeek Lancaster, PA – The Nook, August 5 – 7, 2020. The quilts will also be exhibited in Grand Rapids, MI, August 19 – 22, 2020 and in Charleston, SC, September 30 – October 2, 2020.

There is no entry fee associated with submitting your quilt for this exhibit.

  • Two quilts per person may be submitted for consideration.
  • Quilts must have been completed within the last 5 years.
  • Size: Width 50″ to 95″; Length 50″ to 95″

Quiltmakers may submit quilts in the Baltimore Album style that use traditional or innovative designs. All types of fabrics (cotton, silks, synthetics, wool, or other blends of fabric) may be used. The quilt must consist of a top, batting, and backing, held together with quilting stitches – by hand, machine, or a combination of both hand and machine. The quilts can be made using a pattern or an original design.

Quilts must have an attached sleeve for hanging. A 4-inch finished sleeve must be attached to the back of the quilt approximately ½” from the top edge.

Two digital images (one full view and one detail view) of the quilt are required.
Title your images with your first initial, last name, and the first words of the title of your quilt, and whether it is a full(f) or detail shot(s) of your quilt (e.g. aray-quilt-title-f or aray-quilt-title-s).

You will receive an email confirming your submission within 3 business days.

(It is the entrant’s responsibility to obtain all necessary copyright releases for work that is covered under the copyright laws of the United States. This includes using someone else’s pattern, artwork, photography, or quilt as your inspiration, even if the design has been altered.)

This is a juried exhibit. Notification letters will be sent out on May 15, 2020. If your quilt is accepted for the exhibit, you will receive information on shipping your quilt and additional instructions.

All accepted quilts must be mailed to our home office in Paducah, KY at the expense of the entrant. AQS will pay the return shipping. Quilts must be available from June 12, 2020 until they are returned the week of October 12, 2020, following AQS QuiltWeek in Charleston.

AQS will not be responsible for loss or damage to quilt while in transit. AQS has insurance and security during the show.

Participating artists retain ownership of all photographic copyrights. Upon entering the exhibit, quiltmaker acknowledges that AQS retains the right, without compensation, to reproduce said images for the sole purpose of press releases, website inclusion, marketing, and the promotion of present and future quilt exhibits.
