Kathleen Andrews, who started her pattern company KwiltArt in 1999, specializes in designing dynamic quilt patterns that create depth, dimension, movement, and optical illusions using strip and speed piecing techniques to make construction easy. For several years she designed, wrote patterns, taught and lectured, then literally shifted gears and became an award-winning race car driver before driving back to quilting!

Kathleen has won many quilting awards and has been juried several times into the AQS Paducah and Nashville shows. She was a finalist in The National Quilt Museum’s annual contest and was featured in the related AQS book, Tumbling Blocks: New Quilts from an Old Favorite. One of her quilts appeared in the 2001 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar. Kathleen has also done a half-hour segment on Kaye Wood’s PBS show Kaye’s Quilting Friends. She was featured as a celebrity teacher at the American Sewing Expo in 2015 and had a special exhibit there of her quilts. All of Kathleen’s patterns have national distribution. Her mission is to share her artwork and ideas in hopes of inspiring others to explore and open up to their own creative potential. Find out more at www.kwiltart.com.
