Beaded Piping Plus! Create the Perfect Edge Treatment – #36503

Sometimes the difference between a show quilt and an award-winning show quilt is in the details. On the judging floor, sometimes one point is all that separates a contestant from a winner. Bethanne will share her unique finishing details in her quilts, which have been proven winners in shows across the country. Students will focus on skill mastery using Bethanne’s original beaded piping in classic piping, on the knife edges of quilts, and as tiny appliqué stems. Rather than complete a finished project, students will make 4” mini samples and receive a pattern to make a mini wallhanging. The class kit will provide all you need for your wallhanging details! Take your quilting to the next level with masterpiece details!

Kawandi and Kantha quilts come from different areas of India but share the common use of scrappy fabrics layered and held together with big stitches. Choose your style of quilt, then arrange and stitch! In the process, you’ll learn a bit about the history of these quilting styles. The hand stitching in this class is big, fun, and easy; no precision here! Don’t worry if you don’t have the “right” fabrics in the morning; you’ll paint an assortment of fabrics to create your own prints and patterned fabrics, then create a small quilt (about 18″ x 18″) that you can hang on the wall, frame, or make into a pillow or tote bag. Don’t miss this day full of fun and creativity!

Registration for this class includes show admission for Friday.
