What’s Holding You Back?

Have you ever thought about entering your quilt in an AQS QuiltWeek? Have you been unsure if your quilt would be good enough or meet the minimum requirements? Have you wondered where to even begin the process? Well I have the answers for you!

We are our own worst critics. We see every detail and flaw in our own work. Our friends and family however, just see the beautiful, artistic creation we have made. So, if your friends and family have been encouraging you to enter a quilt, then chances are your quilt is exactly what we have been looking for! I have heard from many past winners that they never would have entered if it hadn’t been for a friend or family member urging them to do so.

So, just what are the requirements to enter a quilt in an AQS contest?

  • First, the quilt must be quilted either by hand, machine, or both through three layers: top, batting, and backing.
  • Secondly, the quilt must fit into one of the size categories of the show you are entering. (You can find the categories listed here.)
  • There you have our requirements. How simple is that?

Now that you have decided to enter your quilt and that it meets the requirements, let me tell you how easy it is to enter. You will need three photos and you can do it yourself – plenty of quilters do! Click here for details on the photos needed and to view our suggestions for good photography.

All that’s left is to submit your entry online you can do this from the main contest page It’s that easy!

Having trouble? Watch this short video which walks you step by step through the entry process.

Did I mention that you don’t even have to be a member of AQS to enter a quilt? Although, as a member, the entry fee is only $20!!! The benefits of joining are many, but that is another post. 🙂
