The period following the Civil War from 1870-1920 brought many changes to American society. Great social movements such as suffrage and temperance swept the nation. America celebrated her 100th birthday, and pioneers settled the West. The era of the Gibson Girl and the end of the Victorian age produced more fabric choices than ever before. In this presentation, quilt historian Allison Rainboth will look at these events in the context of her collection of antique quilts and quilt tops and will share many examples of period fabrics. Supplies are not required for a lecture, although you may want to bring a pen and paper to take notes.
